    The Test Engineer will be responsible for the alignment, calibration, and testing of nanoIR systems to meet customer order requirements. The job includes verification of compliance to system specifications, accomplishing IR laser alignment procedures, AFM Calibrations and performance verification testing, as well as the set-up, testing, and debugging of various types of lasers. The Test Engineer will be responsible for the troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical problems and on the spot repairs of nanoIR systems in test to ensure the orders are shipped on time. The Test Engineer will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Hardware and Software Engineering, and Applications Engineering to troubleshoot and improve product quality and processes.  This includes providing input on system hardware and software design improvements to simplify the testing of the nanoIR systems.  The job requires individual to follow and actively update testing documentation to ensure all potential quality issues are addressed in final testing. The position requires an ability to work independently or as part of a team.



    Duties of the position include the following: 

    1. QC/QA of AFM, IR laser and combined nanoIR microscopes
    2. Complete standardized tests on nanoIR systems
    3. Calibration and rework of products to ensure on-time completion of customer orders
    4. Troubleshoot systems electronically and mechanically during testing
    5. Interface with Manufacturing, Applications and R&D teams to assist with product improvements
    6. Collaborating with Assemblers and Manufacturing Engineers to correct and improve procedures
    7. Preparing systems for shipment to customers
    8. Other duties as assigned



    1. Must be able to work standing, sitting and walking for most of a scheduled shift
    2. Must be able to push cart holding up to 50 lbs. occasionally
    3. May be asked to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
    4. Job requires frequent bending, stooping and kneeling



     A successful candidate will have: 

    1. A M.S. in Engineering / Physics
    2. Background in scanning probe/atomic force microscopy or FTIR
    3. 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing testing environment (preferred)
    4. Previous experience with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and optical systems (preferred)
    5. Ability to excel in a fast-paced customer-focused team environment
    6. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
