  • Overview

    Bruker’s Semiconductor (BSEMI) Division is the leader in advanced X-ray and AFM metrology for the silicon and compound semiconductor industries. The BSEMI division offers the most comprehensive portfolio of tools, based on AFM and X-ray technologies including XRR (X-ray reflectometry), XRF (X-ray fluorescence), XRD (X-ray diffraction), XRDI (X-ray diffraction imaging).  We are seeking an Applications Scientist to support our X-ray activities; in particular, XCD (X-ray Critical Dimension analysis).

    Responsibilities

    • Provides technical expertise through product demonstrations (hardware and software), sales presentations, customer training and support and qualification of company X-ray products. 
    • Assists customers with assessing potential applications of company products to meet process metrology needs.
    • Supports Product Managers in preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions. 
    • May devise an application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client. 
    • Supports the core technology, engineering and production teams in qualification of new technologies, algorithms, methodologies, software and hardware features.
    • Feeds back customer requirements and interests for hardware and software development.
    • Ensures that the product application/solution is functioning according to specifications
    • May provide follow-up support to company sales staff and customer service personnel by disseminating technical information on specific applications. 
    • Will work with our customers from prior to the sale, through delivery and installation to user support.  

     

     

    Qualifications

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Degree in material science, physics, chemical engineering, chemistry or engineering (B.Sc. minimum, Masters or higher degree preferred).
    2. Fluent in English with experience in technical writing
    3. Good knowledge of materials engineering basics (thermodynamics, kinetics, diffusion, basic crystallography. etc.). 
    4. Familiarity with problem analysis and troubleshooting techniques
    5. Experience working in the semiconductor industry and in a fab is an advantage.
    6. Familiarity with metrology and characterisation techniques (preferably hands-on work and results analysis).  Experience in X-ray materials characterisation techniques, Ellipsometry, AFM, or OCD preferred.
    7. Experience in and mis-match analysis of the different techniques preferred.
    8. Good knowledge of statistics and data analysis. .

    • Strong technical background - able to understand the problems that our customers are trying to solve, understanding of the customer’s current and future metrology requirements, and able to recommend new metrology opportunities to Bruker. 
    • Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally at short notice. Expect 30% - 50% travel.
