    This position has 6 primary responsibilities:


    1. Contribute as a core team member on AFM product development programs, providing expert user input during design, implementation, testing and deployment phases.
    2. Evaluate prototype functions and performance to support product development. 
    3. Identify system usability issues and work out the solutions with the project team.
    4. Define and document experiment protocols for evaluation of prototypes and accessories in different operational modes.
    5. Produce detailed product specifications with measurement procedures.
    6. Develop novel applications with core technologies to provide customers a whole product solution.




    1. Contribute as a core team member to provide inputs to product design team as internal experts in the related fields. Develop novel applications to meet the customer needs. (10%)
    2. System level evaluation for products during development phases including functional performance of different SPM modes, usability, system stability, and reliability. Define and document experiment protocols, and report results to the project team. Generate product specifications and procedures to measure the specifications.  Verify the ambiguous issues reported by other users. (70%)
    1. Develop and code automated software based programs (Labview, Matlab, etc.) that can perform unattended software or hardware evaluation for various products and different operation modes. (10%)




    Support sales, marketing, production, and service as requested. Help technical writers to generate content on manuals and support notes for various products. (10%)




    Able to work in the clean room environment.




    Able to lift 30lb from floor to hip height.




    Good analytical thinking, problems solving, customer focus, team work, and learning skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Have a solid theoretical understanding of SPM functions and modes. Ability to evaluate the performance of SPM with different operational modes.




    Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3

    years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD degree in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biology or Engineering. 3+ years user experience with SPM preferred. Peer reviewed publications in the SPM technology or related fields preferred. Preferred experience in nano-mechanical, nano-electrical  or biological research or measurement. Good software programing capability in Labview, Matlab, or other window based programs.
