  • Overview

    New opportunity for a Field Service Engineer with Mass Spectrometer experience to install and support high technology equipment in research labs of pharmaceutical companies, universities and government research labs for Bruker Daltonics, a leading manufacturer of mass spectrometry instruments and accessories. Will work with highly complex equipment that requires a basic physics understanding of the instruments serviced.

    Responsibilities

    • Familiarize and train customers for basic operation of the equipment. 
    • Perform troubleshooting which involves operating instrument via remote diagnostic software: independently determine whether onsite visit is required.
    • Re-qualify the entire instrument after service repair by running complex compounds for verification.
    • Organize and prioritize schedule in accordance with customer requirements to determine needs for immediate attention, onsite visits, and remote assistance
    • Coordinate travel arrangements.
    • Secure customer acceptance of installation and repair sign-off.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on US-based Bruker Daltonics customer systems
    • Coordinate with customers to arrange WebEx Sessions, phone support, and lab facility inspection for new installations.
    • Attend in depth product training (3-4) on new and updated Bruker products in German factory by product experts.
    • Communicate and work closely with Service and Support Centers.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Biotech, Biology or Chemistry related fields or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical and/or electronic equipment on mass spectrometers.
    • Proven knowledge of analog electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, laser technology, chromatography separation techniques, and ultra-high vacuum technology.
    • Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation.
    • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate and interact with Scientists that possess a Ph.D. (or Master’s Degree) in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Microbiology.
    • Excellent verbal, written, MS Office, computer, technical data, and networking communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner.
    • Valid Drivers' License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
    • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused work environment.
    • Ability and willingness to travel in the mid-west area approximately 70% as required.  Limited travel to other regions of the USA will also be required.
    • May require lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and squatting and may also involve working in dusty and dirty laboratory environments.
