    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This role will act as a contributing Manufacturing Engineer as well as supervise 3-4 employees within the assigned Value Stream.  Responsibilities will include working with regional R&D and Manufacturing teams to lead the following activities:

    Contributor:

    • Assess and implement DFx (Design for Manufacturability, Quality, and Reliability) opportunities for new products.
    • Support early product builds; create process flows with estimated cycle times, develop QA plans.
    • Develop and implement tooling, fixtures, and documentation to support product assembly and test requirements.
    • Support supplier identification /qualification / resourcing, including first article inspections.
    • Identify and implement value engineering projects to improve product quality, manufacturability, and cost.
    • Lead product transfer from existing manufacturing site to Penang.

    Supervisor:

    • Responsible for assigning, prioritizing, and progress tracking for above activities in line with Bruker standards for BOM Management, ECO Procedures, CAPA Procedures, Non-Conforming Material Procedures, and Obsolescence Management.
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining Key Performance Metrics related to above listed activities and in line with company objectives. 
    • Responsible for Performance Management of direct reports and fulfilling any staffing requirements for the Manufacturing Engineering department within the assigned Value Stream.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • NPI (New Product Introduction) (10%)
    • Sustaining Production Support (40%)
    • Product quality control and improvement (20%)
    • Sourcing optimization Support (20%)
    • Process Improvements (10%)

     

    TRAVEL:

    Assignment will begin with a 1-2 month training session at a Bruker factory in the United States. Details will be determined when a job offer is presented to the successful candidate. Additional U.S.-based travel and training will be required, as needed, to support additional products designated for the initial transfer, and when a new Bruker product is to be transferred to the Penang facility.


     

    Qualifications

    KN

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Prior experience of personnel management or supervisory roles.
    • New Product Introduction experience, preferably in environment where R&D is not located in same region as Manufacturing.
    • Project management experience; ability to lead and manage projects and teams effectively.
    • Good engineering analytic and problem solving skills. Six Sigma training and/or certification a PLUS. 
    • Knowledge of DFx principles and application.
    • Good organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to use CAD programs (preferably SolidWorks).
    • Able to travel domestic or internationally.
    • Other duties as assigned or as necessary.

     

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • 7-10 years Manufacturing Engineering experience, preferably with the assembly and/or test of electrical/electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, opto-mechanical assemblies used for instruments / capital equipment.
    • Experience supporting new product development and transfer into production
