    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Manager of Facilities and EH&S will be responsible for facility and EH&S program management of the Bruker Penang (BPEN) site, and ensuring site compliance with the related and applicable local/state/federal government regulations and procedures. Responsibilities include providing oversight to resolve all issues and needs related to facilities’ maintenance / services /repair and upgrades, EH&S training, and DOSH compliance. 

    As a member of the BPEN leadership team, this person will embody the highest levels of personal integrity and is responsible for establishing and upholding sound and ethical business practices that further the best interests of the Company, the suppliers, and its customers.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Plan, organize and manage BPEN facilities: renovation, maintenance, service, repairs, relocation, fire safety and security (including communication with local fire officials and law enforcement). 
    • Maintain a strong collaboration between BPEN and the other Bruker factories BPEN supports to ensure the BPEN facility is able to meet their business and safety requirements
    • Ensure BPEN compliance with all applicable Malaysian local /state / federal government regulatory requirements or BPEN key customer requirements, including: 
    • Local, state and federal EH&S standards and requirements.
    • DOSH regulations.
    • US conflict minerals regulation.
    • Support BPEN management, as needed, to develop, implement, manage ISO standards compliance (e.g., 9001, 14001).
    • Provide EH&S leadership for BPEN including training, deployment of PPE, coordination of safety audits, and maintenance of chemical inventory records and MSDS.
    • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
    • Respond to alleged or known violations of related rules, regulations, policies, procedures, or standards of conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of such violations.
    • Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the senior management informed of the status of BPEN facilities and assigned compliance activities.
    • Institute and maintain an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including the understanding and training of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
    • Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
    • Work with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program for assigned activities, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager or supervisor.

                                                   

    PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Normal office environment; travel up to ~10%; visual acuity for continuous computer work; ability to sit for 6-8 hours per day; ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.    

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Proven project management skills and/or program management experience – a minimum of eight years managing multiple complex projects involving cross-functional resources which required compliance to government and/or corporate regulations.
    • Minimum of five years of experience managing facilities, including knowledge of maintenance, preventative methods and procedures used in keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition; maintaining and repairing utility systems and physical structures of buildings; budgeting and fiscal management; business practices followed to prepare bid specification, negotiate agreements and administer contracts; program planning and scheduling; building construction methods and materials; estimating practices, safety practices; lease negotiations and management.
    • Existing knowledge of, or the ability to quickly become proficient of, the regulatory and quality issues associated with products targeted for worldwide distribution
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malay and the ability to effectively communicate and work with all levels of the BPEN and greater BNANO organization to establish, develop, and maintain programs required to ensure BPEN compliance with government regulations or customer expectations. 

     

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Education: A Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering.  Master’s desired.
    • Experience:  A minimum of 10 years of experience as a part of an Operations team in a manufacturing environment, strongly preferred.
    • Experience managing ISO compliance activities preferred.
    • Familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures and regulations is a must.
