    Responsibilities

     

     

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Oversees activities related to material/inventory control, receiving and stores functions. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and material control systems.  Provides financial reporting and reconciliation of inventories. Oversees and manages all logistics activities and related systems information in a manufacturing environment. Is responsible for shipment of products from place of origin to point of delivery, third-party warehousing, and shipping activities. Develops and implements logistics plans, budgets, and procedures to maximize compliance with customer needs within budget constraints. Exhibits thorough understanding of international Letters of Credit and other forms of banking documents and international shipments. Interacts with vendors and peers in Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, Service, and Product Development to optimize systems and procedures.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     

    Warehouse

    • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution/shipping operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
    • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements as required. Enforces adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
    • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
    • Maintains inventory accuracy by conducting physical counts; reconciling variances with ERP system.
    • Achieves financial objectives by analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
    • Maintains physical condition of warehouse, adjusting layout as needed to support business needs. Monitors condition of equipment and tools; issuing requests for repair and requisitions for replacement as needed.
    • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

    Logistics and Traffic

    • Supervise and perform SAP transactions to relieve stock and create shipment documentation.
    • Supervise and prepare relevant Export Documents for shipment.
    • Liaise with Freight Forwarders and Couriers scheduling shipments for pick-up.
    • Supervise flow of systems/parts through packaging/crating.
    • Supervise packaging/crating of systems and parts.
    • Ensure appropriate Shipping supplies are available.
    • Monitors condition of equipment and tools; supervises preventative maintenance, and issues requests for repair and requisitions for replacement as needed.
    • Respond to requests for shipping info from email and phone enquiries.
    • Investigate and track missing shipments.
    • Ensure appropriate crating is used (e.g. Heated Treated or Fumigated for Asia and European Shipments). 
    • Coordinate with people in upstream and downstream departments (e.g., production, service, etc.)

    Qualifications

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Cross-train and support others in areas of expertise
    • Track, prepare and post metrics
    • Maintains and develops department staff through hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and monitoring performance against standard
    • Complete timely Performance Reviews of direct staff
    • Learn, understand and promote the Bruker lean manufacturing system.  The Bruker lean manufacturing system is based on the fundamental concept of identifying and eliminating the 8 wastes.  It includes concepts such as one-piece flow, pull, 6S, standard work, visual management, level loading, poka-yoke, etc.
    • Other Duties as assigned

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Proficiency in SAP
    • Knowledge of Export/Import Law and Shipment function
    • Degree in Supply Chain/logistics or Engineering and Knowledge of lean manufacturing
