  • Overview

    This position will report directly to Head of CALID Legal and Compliance based in Bremen Germany, and will proactively operate as a business partner for all relevant functions for Bruker CALID Group in APAC. 

    This position will assist in all of the legal and compliance matters of CALID Group in APAC including but not limited to managing all kind of contracts that arise from the day-to-day operation, conducting due diligence for third party sales intermediaries together with CALID Legal team members in Germany, providing legal advice and support primarily to the APAC Commercial Team and operation of CALID Business, working on compliance matters in relation to operation of CALID Business.

     

    The objective of this role is to provide support CALID Legal in APAC to provide legal advisory to the operation and business of CALID Group in APAC and ensure CALID Group is doing business in APAC in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

    Responsibilities

    1. Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts/documents that arise from the day to day operations of Bruker CALID Group.
    2. Providing timely, pro-active and practical legal advisory on various legal issues that arise from the day-to-day operation in APAC.
    3. Working with the CALID Legal and Compliance Department in Germany to ensure consistency in implementing global policies within the region.
    4. Assisting in third party due diligence on third party sales intermediaries in APAC.
    5. Keeping updates on national and state legislation that may affect the scientific instruments, life science and medical device industry, personal data protection and trade compliance related laws.
    6. Providing trainings as required by CALID Business in APAC.
    7. Managing claims, disputes, mediations, litigation and arbitrations if required.
    8. Conducting gap analysis to improve existing processes to increase operational efficiency.
    9. Collaborating with Finance, Internal Audit, HR teams to ensure legal advices are available and properly provided to relevant stakeholders.
    10. Other assignments and duties assigned by CALID Group Legal and Compliance

    Qualifications

    1. Admitted to practice law in one of the jurisdictions in APAC (ideally a Commonwealth Jurisdiction).
    2. At least 5 to 7 years’ experience in reputable law firm or multi-national company.
    3. A Bachelor degree or higher degree in law from a reputable university.
    4. Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (written and verbal) with good cultural sensitivity. Business fluency in Japanese would be highly desirable.
    5. Good understanding of contract and commercial laws, anti-bribery laws and practice, general corporate practice.
    6. Familiarity or experience in life science and medical devices industry would be desirable.
    7. Knowledge of trade compliance and privacy and personal data protection laws would be a plus.
    8. High integrity and a good team player.
    9. Highly-developed organizational skills and be articulate, detail oriented and hard working.
    10. Good drafting skill with good attention to details.
