A master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Physical Chemistry or related subject is expected. Experience of X-ray characterisation of materials is a distinct advantage; alternatively, experience of other materials characterisation techniques such as electron or neutron diffraction and reflectivity would be useful.
Ability to apply expert knowledge of X-ray scattering techniques to the analysis of semiconductor materials.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, research partners, members of the Applications Department and with others at all levels within the company. Good report writing and presentation skills.
Computer literacy – A working knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems and Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), experience with programming and systems interfacing.
Organisational competencies – Ability to prioritise and progress a number of clearly defined tasks in parallel, collate relevant data and report them in a clear and concise manner.
Personal skills – An ability to work in a team or take on individual responsibility as required.
