Under the direction of the Director of Global Supply Chain Management, this position is responsible for the development, execution, and management of commodity strategies along with the associated global sourcing for the following commodities, goods and services to support our manufacturing and business operations:  outsourced electro-mechanical assemblies, PCBAs, cable assemblies, electrical components, power supplies and computers / workstations. The person will need to apply skills in understanding business, technical and supply chain requirements, performing market research, and effectively working across business units, functions and with suppliers to create and execute commodity strategies that best leverage supplier capabilities and the company’s procurement spend to meet corporate objectives of quality, cost, delivery and customer service. This person is to have a broad understanding of supply management and the commodities assigned; looked to as the “go-to expert” for the company and participating in the strategic direction of the organization. The position scope includes, but is not limited to, the management of our supply base,  contract negotiations, sourcing new technologies, and developing and managing the Global Supply Chain team, and working with cross-functional teams to achieve other relevant business objectives such as meeting annual inventory targets.


This position supervises a team of buyers to identify, qualify and manage a global supply base to provide the team’s assigned commodities. The successful candidate will staff, develop and manage the team so that it is fully capable of meeting our near-term and long-term objectives. Leadership includes, but is not limited to, the following management responsibilities: establish clear goals, objectives and metrics for the team and individuals that are in alignment with annual BNS business objectives; write Annual Performance Evaluations and Development Plans with SMART Goals for employees, provide regular coaching of employees; ensure job descriptions for current employees and for new hires are current and complete; ensure employees understand their responsibilities as Bruker professionals, and adhere to all company policies and our Code of Conduct.



  • Development and execution of commodity strategies which support our near term and long term product, manufacturing and business needs.
  • Leading a commodity team to optimize and rationalize our supply chain, including the identification, qualification and management of new suppliers and related sourcing (re-sourcing, outsourcing) activities and negotiations activities to achieve business targets for quality, delivery and cost. This includes, but is not limited to, suppliers of outsourced electro-mechanical assemblies, PCBAs, cable assemblies, electrical components, power supplies and computers / workstations.
  • Global procurement of materials, services, and freight to support the development, NPI and mass production requirements of our W/W BNS factories and our US-based BSEMI factory. This includes working with product management and production planning to drive activities related to the timely and cost effective procurement of materials and services while meeting delivery and inventory targets. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to support these activities.
  • Coordinating and supporting on-site supplier visits, assessments, auditing, and continuous improvement opportunities to optimize total cost and address issues with supplier performance.
  • Working with Mfg. and Design Engineers in sourcing, selecting, and establishing new suppliers as well as resolving technical related issues and tasks.
  • Resolving MRB relates issues with suppliers and oversees the disposition of MRB materials.
  • Staffing, developing and managing the Global Supply Chain team so that it is capable of meeting its objectives.
  • Ensuring the supply chain team tracks and reports its progress for primary goals and objectives.
  • Generating various analysis and reports using SAP database and import them to Excel.
  • Negotiates and creates global supply agreements with key partners.
  • Manage and support SAP modules that are related to Procurement




  • Bachelor's degree required (highly preferred in ME, EE or similar)
  • 12 years’ experience working in manufacturing environment, including 10 years in purchasing or supply chain.
  • Minimum of 5 years of strategic supplier sourcing analyses and execution
  • APICS or CPM Certification highly desired
  • Complete knowledge of all aspects of purchasing including but not limited to: Source selection, price / cost analysis, negotiation, purchase justification and documentation
  • Strong technical and business knowledge of, and experience in buying and sourcing electrical commodities
  • Ability to lead cross business unit and cross functional teams to create and execute commodity strategies
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize and solve complex supply problems
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with a higher level ERP system. SAP experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office, in particular Excel
  • Strong negotiation skills. Ability to negotiate attractive business terms (e.g., pricing, SOI/VMI) with small to large suppliers while maintaining healthy, long-term supplier partnerships
  • Lead, coordinate and support on-site supplier visits, assessments, audits and continuous improvement opportunities to improve upon total cost and address issues with supplier performance
  • Must be highly detailed and able to work multiple tasks independently with little direct supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to communicate effectively across the organization from buyers to senior management
  • Good people management and motivational skills
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Capable of traveling up to 20%
