The Bruker Nano Services Division (BNS) Sales Applications Manager (m/f) manages the BNS sales application team across EMEA and Latin America and additionally acts as an individual contributor to all applications team activities. BNS technology portfolio includes but is not limited to Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM), Stylus and Optical Profilers, Mechanical Test Technology and Nanoindenters.

This position includes direct reports based at Karlsruhe office, Germany together with dotted line report to local French and UK Sales Applications Engineers. It can be based in Palaiseau (France), Karlsruhe (Germany) or Coventry (UK)


The essential duties and responsibilities are:

  • Direct management of selected BNS sales applications engineers
  • Maintain and coach EMEA applications team driving continuous improvement, strong team spirit and employee retention
  • Best in class management and maintenance of demonstration laboratories in UK, France, Germany and Brazil
  • Manage and coordinate EMEA demo inventory and demonstration system logistics for all regional events and on-site demonstrations
  • Prioritize EMEA applications team activities to BNS Business needs working with territory sales managers, Regional Sales Director and Worldwide Applications Director
  • Be instrumental in securing customer technical commitment from the most complex and challenging opportunities
  • Manage / coordinate selected customer collaborations
  • Deliver strategic market, applications and technology input for business units
  • Successfully demonstrate BNS products delivering timely application reports
  • Deliver high impact presentations at conferences, seminars, workshops, customer sites, internal sales and applications meetings
  • Monthly reporting and evaluation of applications team metrics and key performance indicators. Own execution of strategies to address gaps, drive continuous improvement and recover business as required
  • Manage and track applications activities (demonstration, reports, customer interactions) in SalesForce CRM additionally ensuing continuous adoption by applications team members
  • Coordination with Bruker service team to ensure customer satisfaction is executed by service team through successful customer training and technical support


  • PhD level in a Physical science discipline
  • Minimum of five years industry experience
  • Publication record using AFM is mandatory
  • Experience with profilometry / tribology / nanoindentation is desirable
  • Management experience is desirable
  • Very good MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Clean driving license is required
  • Self-motivation, team working skills, as well as excellent time management and communication skills
  • Fluent in English. Skills in German or French are beneficial
  • Willingness to travel through the region (> 50%)
