Overview

To deliver impactful pre-sales and after-sales application support for AIC’s Time Domain-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (TD-NMR) and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) product solutions in AIC’s Southeast Asia markets (see list below) in close cooperation with the benchtop NMR/EPR sales team. 

 

To ensure that AIC’s benchtop NMR/EPR distribution partners are at all times updated on the solution portfolio and trained to successfully represent AIC in the market and contribute to the business growth.

                                          

To closely partner with existing and targeted Key Account Customers (technical buying center thereof) in order to shorten the sales cycle to close a Design-in and to help identify new and scalable business opportunities which capitalize on the existing AIC’s product portfolio or  AIC’s technologies and core capabilities (TD-NMR and EPR product solutions).

                                          

To support the AIC Distribution Manager Southeast Asia SEA in ensuring SLS-Southeast Asia (SEA) is self-sufficient through regular trainings of the AIC’s solutions portfolio.

 

To feedback new market or customer requirements to the AIC Benchtop Applications Development team and Benchtop NMR/EPR Product Management in an actable way.

                                          

Due to the nature of this job’s tasks and responsibilities, a travel time of up to 60% will be required.


Essential Job Functions: 

Pre-Sales support and After Sales support

 

1. Will closely work with the AIC sales organization to deliver impactful pre-sales support in targeted KA and Value Based Gold Dealers and to help launch new solutions by performing:

  • instrument demonstrations,
  • in house and on site customer training,
  • in house and on site customer support,
  • development of new methods, validation of new and existing methods

 

2. Will closely work with AIC Product Management, Divisional R&D and Market Management by assisting in:

  • the production of manuals, marketing materials and other documentation
  • trade shows and conferences
  • maintaining the instruments in the demo laboratory in peak performing condition
  • supporting of AIC’s App Development team.

 

3. Works closely with PM (EPR, TD-NMR) on one hand and with SLS-SEA on the other hand to define a concept for Installation and After-Sales-Support that SLS-SEA becomes gradually self-sufficient. Delivers in near term After Sales Support for level 2 Applications (TD, EPR) and selected level 1 Applications according to AIC After Sales Support Concept draft.

 

4. The FAS will support the TQM CAPA 1 and CAPA 2 escalation process when required. This will include testing, verification, validation of R&D or service related revisions made to software or hardware products in the area of the FAS specialty (i.e., TD-NMR, EPR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist in instrument demonstrations.
  • Test SEA customer samples locally on the available NMR and EPR equipment
  • Perform or assist in training sessions, both in house and in customer laboratories. Training can include class room teaching and hands on instrument training.
  • Perform customer support; this includes phone support, email support and travel to customer laboratories for on-site support.
  • Perform and assist in, the production of manuals marketing materials and other documentation.
  • Development of new methods, validation of new methods. Development of quality control standards and compliance with quality management at customer sites.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Conditions such as pace makers or other electronic implants susceptible to magnetic fields create a risk not compatible with this job function.

 

Furthermore, due to the nature of the role, working hours can be irregular and extensive travel is an essential part of the job.  There is also a requirement to travel to Germany during the first three months of employment to undergo initial training and then at least one annual trip to oversees thereafter.

 

 

  1. Education and/or Experience                                             
    B.S., M.S. or Ph.D.  in the following areas is a prerequisite for this position.  Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Food Engineer. Familiarity with pulsed NMR applications, Near Infrared, and Mass Spectrometry are essential. experience with QA/QC methods desired.

  2. Language Skills
    Excellent communications skills in oral and written English, must be able to write at an advanced scientific level. Knowledge of foreign languages are a plus.

  3. Mathematical Skills
    Must have knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and Calculus. Knowledge of statistical methods and or chemometrics is desired.

  4. Reasoning Ability
    Good communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills, scientific thinking and teaching skills are required.

  5. Computer Skills
    Efficiency in either Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems, able to create documents in MS Word, presentations in MS PowerPoint. Expertise in programs written by Bruker BioSpin Corporation, such as XWINNMR, TopSpin and others.

  6. Soft Skills
    As this job requires considerable direct interaction with end-customers, as well as numerous members with varying responsibilities within the AIC division and BBIO, as a whole, great communication skills are a must. This must go beyond the ability to represent current issues technically accurate, and must include an ability to convince others of the urgency and priority of tasks at hand.                               

 

Other Skills and Abilities                                                 

Applications Scientists have to be able to keep the instruments in good operating condition. This includes maintenance, troubleshooting and to some extent repair. The employee will have to travel extensively.

  • The employee should be able to travel freely without restrictions (e.g. inability to obtain certain visas, etc.) within the above mentioned Southeast Asian regions.
