Luxendo was founded a as spin-off of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in 2015. The company develops and manufactures proprietary light-sheet fluorescence microscopy instruments based on the licensed SPIM (Selective Plane Illumination Microscopy) technology.

SPIM microscopes avoid sample phototoxicity by sequentially illuminating a stack of small slices of the organism, allowing scientists to observe living organisms for an extended / longer period without photo damage. Within two years, three different microscope systems were developed and launched, addressing various applications in live cell imaging. All products are being distributed and supported in all relevant global scientific markets.

Luxendo is part of the Bruker Fluorescence Microscopy (FM) Business Unit since May 2017 and is headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany. We are an international, young, driven and energetic / lively team and search for / are looking for people in various functions to help executing our ambitious growth plans.

Responsibilities

  • Design of mechanical and opto-mechanical systems and components for high-end microscopes
  • Leading smaller R&D projects
  • Interfacing with Production and Engineering for planned product launches
  • Creating a bills of materials for Engineering and Production

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master in mechanical and / or opto-mechanical design
  • Several years of work experience in similar environment
  • Experience in design of mechanical and optical components and systems
  • Excellent CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks
  • Willingness to learn about applications and specifics of high-end microscopes
  • Good understanding of system architecture and design
  • Experience in using ERP systems
  • Analytical and conceptual skills
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good English language skills
