SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment. Determine and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Work with engineers in conducting experiments.
Position will be Middleton, Wisconsin.
Combine optical components for production of laser scanning systems by assembling and aligning optical subassemblies. Trouble-shoot irregularities in inventory and sub-assemblies; perform custom fabrication and modification of mechanical and optical components as needed. Confer with Engineering to provide feedback on fabrication and assembly, transition prototypes into Manufacturing, and resolve functional problems. Verify established acceptance standards are met for the optical elements, software and hardware that combine for a complete system; analyze and record test results. Disassemble and pack systems for successful shipping and handling, moving large inventory items as needed and utilizing shipping equipment.
Participate in Quality initiatives, developing and documenting manufacturing processes and reporting and sharing in the resolution of software issues both in house and on site.
Work with Materials Coordinator to identify inventory and mitigate backordered/long lead time items.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum 4 years of proven experience working as a manufacturing technician in a product manufacturing organization, preferably related to the manufacture (build, test and troubleshooting) of high-end microscopes or optical systems having meaningful mechanical, electronic, and software design components. Associates or Technical degree in Electronics or related technical field preferred.
