The function of the Sales Scientist, Magnetic Resonance is to develop the Company’s business in magnetic resonance products, predominantly NMR but with some requirement for related products such as EPR.


The primary objectives are:

  • To promote and sell our cutting-edge equipment to potential users in industry and academia
  • To promote the image of the Company and its products and representing the Company at conferences, exhibitions and other promotional opportunitiesJob duties will include the following tasks specific to the objectives:
  • Duties
  • liaise with senior staff to determine the range of goods or services to be sold,
  • qualifying potential sales leads by discussion with customers and identify requirements
  • arranging and hosting demonstrations in the UK and other locations (Switzerland, Germany, etc)
  • preparing quotations and responding to EU tendering invitations
  • carries out surveys and analyses customers’ reactions to product,  price, etc
  • negotiating prices in collaboration with the parent factory and local management
  • contributing to marketing activities such as advertisements and mailings
  • attendance at exhibitions, seminars and conferences in the UK and abroad
  • contributes to the development of sales strategies and setting of sales targets
  • compiles and analyses sales figures, prepares quotes, tenders and proposals
  • relationship management with existing customers and assistance with post-sales activities
  • finding new customers in industry and academia using a variety of tools ranging from personal networking to internet searches
  • maintaining timely and accurate records in the company CRM software
  • maintaining detailed knowledge of company and competitor products
  • mentor and assist any junior members of the sales teamThe position reports to the Northern Europe Head of Sales, Magnetic Resonance.
  • Reporting

    The position reports to the Northern Europe Head of Sales, Magnetic Resonance. 


    The position is based at a location conveniently suited to the sales territory, and that is satisfactory to the Company for the efficient and effective development of the territory. Regular reporting both electronically and by personal attendance at our Coventry office form part of the job duties. Irregular hours and extensive travel within the UK (plus occasional travel abroad) are an essential part of the job.

  • Qualifications
  • Minimum of PHD qualification in an applicable science with postgraduate experience is required along with commercial experience
  • high standard of oral and written English
  • a current valid driving license
  • Skills and Experience
  • an understanding of the role of different NMR equipment, techniques and their applications.
  • sales experience in selling a technical product.
  • excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • handles strategic customer accounts in the medical and academic market;
  • produces reports and recommendations concerning marketing and sales strategies for senior management;
  • keeps up to date with products and competitors.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on Bruker instruments
