Position Summary:

 

The Application Specialist within Bruker Nano Analytics is focused on application support of portable XRF (X-ray fluorescence) products. The Application Specialist works in cross-functional roles in applications team as well as customer support to provide pre- and post-sales product support and application support for Bruker Handheld, Mobile, and Portable (HMP) instruments.

 

In addition to customer and sales support and training, the application specialist is also working closely with R&D and product management to help to test and validate new products and applications. The application specialist is also helping to create new XRF applications and customize existing applications to meet the customer requirements.The key application focus areas are metals analysis, mining, archaeometry, environmental and material research.

Responsibilities

  • Product and application support to sales organization and customers. Provides email and phone-based support as part of the customer support team and helps to troubleshoot application problems.
  • Provides application support to production and creates custom applications based on new user requirements.
  • Attends exhibitions and conferences to support sales activities and market development.
  • Carries out off-site customer training, demonstrations, and product installations
  • Works closely with product management and R&D team to evaluate new hardware, software, and calibration versions.
  • Carries out application feasibility studies and develops new XRF analytical applications, especially for metals, archaeometry, material science, mining, geology and environmental applications.
  • Become industry expert in the XRF application area, understand customer needs and science behind the application.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

 

  • B.Sc., B.A. with a major in Science or a good basis in science. Preferred is a degree in Materials Science, Geoscience, Chemistry, Physics, Metallurgy, Environmental. Advanced degree in a scientific or engineering subject is a plus.
  • Analytical instrumentation experience, XRF and/or other elemental spectroscopy methods. Handheld XRF technical experience desired.
  • Basic laboratory and sample preparation skills
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and statistical process control
  • MS Office, especially proficiency with spreadsheets for data analysis
  • Interest to work in a small-to-mid-sized organization, requiring multiple roles and flexibility to adjust to needs of the organization and/or markets.
  • Interest and ability to work in a global organization, which requires in some cases ability to communicate outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to work customer facing role and interact with both internal and external sales teams.
  • Technical credibility and strong written and oral communication skills will be invaluable
  • Require up to 30% travel including international
  • The position will be based in Kennewick, Washington, USA
