Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsible for overseeing the human resources function for Bruker’s BNANO Group. This position functions as a business partner to and member of the BNANO Group senior team and is responsible for defining, developing, managing and implementing a combination of tactical and strategic human resources initiatives aligned with the organization’s requirements. This senior HR professional will implement and oversee appropriate programs and practices to support the business objectives of the company, by building a high quality work environment and attracting and retaining world-class talent.  Broad HR technical expertise and consultancy skills in employee relations, organizational design, strategic workforce planning, recruiting, compensation/benefits administration, training and education, communications, safety and benefits are crucial. 

 

The senior professional in this position must bring positive energy to the BNANO Group Human Resource environment; the candidate must be an enabler. The HR leader must partner with business partners bringing solutions to the organizations requirements while giving sound HR advice. The senior professional must be a problem solver.

Responsible for overseeing multiple global human resources functions for the BNANO Group such as, recruitment, training, talent management, diversity initiatives, acquisitions, performance management and employee relations programs. Oversees the implementation of processes and policies in compliance with corporate strategies to ensure that financial and strategic goals are attained. Provides sound strategic and operational support to the various businesses within BNANO involving employee related activities, and provide quality input in planning and policy development. This position reports to the BNANO Group President. The candidate will be a member of the executive team and will frequently interact with executives of the BNANO Group and its divisions. This is a position of significant organizational trust, requiring high integrity and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

Act as the HR Business Partner to key company executives

Assess organization capability and develop a roadmap that delivers HR services and enables business leaders to meet their growth and revenue targets.

Work collaboratively with corporate Talent Management to drive the talent acquisition strategy and assimilation processes and programs.

Partner with corporate Compensation & Benefits to evaluate and implement a global total rewards strategy ensuring competitive compensation and benefits, and the correct application and administration of all benefit and employee service programs.  Examine programs and make recommendations for changes consistent with corporate policy.

Direct activities/programs to support open and effective communication between management and the work force and maintain a positive organizational climate.  Alert management to developing issues and provide a barometer of employee morale. Support management in communications to employees with regards to employee benefits, compensation, rewards, organizational changes and special events.

Consult to, advise and assist managers at all levels in maintaining and strengthening their effectiveness with the employees they supervise and in driving effective coaching, employee engagement and satisfaction.

Implement practices in HR administrative areas that are efficient, effective, legally compliant, and consistent with HR systems established by the corporate office.  Drive continuous improvement in HR organization efficiency.

Ensure that the company is compliant with appropriate OSHA, CAL-OSHA, ERISA, EEOC, AAP, state and governmental laws and regulations. Keep management informed of legal issues which affect Human Resources and help direct the efforts of management to maintain favorable employee relations and legal compliance.

Lead and develop a world-class Human Resources team with competencies required to successfully deliver HR objectives. 

Manages and coordinates the daily operations of the BNANO Group, and provides direction and leadership in the management of associated HR programs and initiatives.

Monitors program efficiency; develops reporting procedures and other methods to establish program accountability and measure success; revises processes and procedures to reflect centralized approaches to human resource management and to improve program effectiveness.

Supervises management staff assigns work and special projects; monitors workload and productivity; evaluates performance; promotes staff training and development; provides assistance in analyzing and resolving complex issues.

Designs or participates in the design and establishment of the organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives.

Recommends and participates in the development and establishment of BNANO’s Human Resources related policies and procedures and which align with overall Bruker policies.

Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Will proactively work to find improvement and lessen bureaucracy.

Maintains knowledge of international HR policies, programs, laws and issues. Ensures compliance with all government/state regulations and laws. Understands the differences of domestic and international policies and programs and coordinates the integration of all such program.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Proven success partnering with a senior executive team, having established credible business partner relationships

-Demonstrated ability to understand complex business issues in a multi-site organization and to manage and lead organizational change in technology environments. 

-Comfortable working remotely and with remote executives.

-The ability to be hands on to execute plans and programs.

-Be a subject expert in employee relations and organizational development.

-Ability to manage employer/employee relations under stressful situations where problem-solving and quick good judgment is essential.

-Knowledge and understanding of applicable state and federal laws. Ability to interpret them correctly.

-Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

-Effective computer (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS [SAP or equivalent]) and quantitative analytical skills.

-Experience in high-technology multi-location manufacturing environment with 300+ employees.

-Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

-Knowledge of management principles and practices.

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse work environment.

-Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex human resource issues.

-Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. .

-Advanced knowledge and understanding of human resources management principles, practices, and standards.

-Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.

-Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

-Employee development and performance management skills.

 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Masters' degree with 12 to 15 years of related HR Management experience. plus 6 years demonstrated success at the Director level with a publicly-traded, technology company.

This position can be located in Santa Barbara, CA or San Jose, CA. Expected travel between San Jose; Santa Barbara; smaller plant locations in the U.S.; and locations in Germany could be as high as 40% - 50%.
