SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

As part of our North American Sales Team, the Non-Systems Sales and Marketing Engineer is responsible for the sales growth of AFM probes and other aftermarket products (accessories, modules, upgrades, service contracts, etc) for all BNS product lines in North America. The Engineer also works closely with Product Management to guide the marketing and promotional efforts for AFM probes worldwide. This position must achieve sales quotas in the assigned product lines while enthusiastically expanding customer relationships using comprehensive product knowledge & technical expertise. Must be capable of working independently to achieve goals and also capable of collaborating with several business units across intercompany departments such as Field Sales, Order Administration, Technical Support, Production, Shipping and Product Management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet or exceed all quarterly sales objectives in assigned geographical area.
  • Make outgoing sales calls to current and prospective customers to cultivate relationships and win orders.
  • Promptly and effectively respond to incoming calls/emails from customers regarding product specifications, application & technical questions, order processing, and quality complaints.
  • Generate quotes for all requests in a timely manner.
  • Prospect for new business opportunities using marketing leads, cold calling, OEM agreements, and other conventional & non-conventional methods for identifying potential customers.
  • Work closely with product management on new AFM probe releases, promotions, and marketing materials.
  • Manage appearance and content of AFM probes websites. Work closely with 3rd party web developer on new site functionality to improve shopping experience and ease-of-use.
  • Liaise between customers and factory on all quality issues, providing timely responses and appropriate resolution to customer complaints.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical sales plans for short and long term objectives.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the customers within North America.
  • Develop key relationships (at all appropriate levels) with strategic accounts and distributors.
  • Assure the highest level of customer engagement and support from BNS resources in sales, field applications engineers, marketing, customer service, distributors, etc.
  • Provide timely information on competitive activities within the region and overall market place.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee weekly sales reporting and present information to the Director of North American Sales.
  • Use SalesForce.com and SAP as a sales tracking and forecasting tool.
  • Travel requirements are approximately 25% of the work time.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Outgoing personality with very strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface with internal/external customers and support groups within BNS.
  • Strong telephone skills are a must.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and territory data.
  • Self-starter; highly organized with solid time management & multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge and experience in the markets served by Bruker Nano is desirable.

 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Sciences is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years professional work experience in a customer facing inside/field sales or marketing roll, ideally involving products used in surface science and metrology applications.
  • Experience in SalesForce.com and SAP strongly preferred.
  • Experience in AspDotNetStorefront strongly preferred.
