The US CALID Finance Manager is a hands-on, integral member of the CALID Group’s Finance team reporting into CALID Global Finance based in Germany and is responsible for managing the CALID Group’s monthly, quarterly and annual business finance closing processes and related activities for the US divisions. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and all federal, state and local regulations.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Finance Business Partner for all 3 operating divisions within the US CALID Group (Daltonics, Optics and Detection).


Business partnering for Commercial (Sales, Service, Applications), R&D, Shared Services, Divisional management in understanding their financial results and how to impact future results, includes preparing quarterly presentations to senior management and preparing ad hoc reports for divisional management. Serves as partner to Divisional Management in driving business results.


Direct the preparation of reports focusing on forecasting business activities and financial position; includes summarizing the financial position of the business and key operating metrics, analysis of income and expenses, capital expenditures and working capital.


Contributes to strategic planning by providing/modelling various budget and forecast scenarios. Manage and oversee the preparation of the annual budget submission and monthly forecasts.  Prepares periodic analysis of variances between the actual and planned results.


Initiate, lead, support and implement process optimization projects to improve the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness in CALID US organization


Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls; to ensure timely processing and reporting; includes participating in month- and quarter-end business finance financial statement close process, account reconciliations, cost analysis and inventory costing systems.


Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Company’s financial policies and procedures and the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley.


Establish a monthly report with an overview of all relevant key metrics (NOBs, Revenues, margins, working capital etc.).


Work diligently to improve and maintain world class working capital ratios and maximize cash flow.



Manage projects related to SAP enhancements, upgrades & improvements.


Team-up with accounting center of excellence in Billerica to ensure that monthly closing requirements are met and all financial risks are covered.


Build and maintain strong relationships with local business partners and divisional finance



Supervisory Responsibilities:


The US CALID Finance Manager will manage up to one (1) employee in the Finance Department. Required to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.


Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:                                                

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Finance-related Major (e.g. Accounting, Finance) or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years’ direct experience in divisional finance and accounting.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and costing systems.
  • Accounting/Audit experience with CPA and Big Four experience preferable.
  • Governmental Accounting experience a plus.

Computer Skills:                                             

  • Strong knowledge SAP and MS Office products.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must be a US citizen. Security clearance a plus and maybe required in the future.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain strong professional alliances both internally and externally in a collaborative and effective way. Ensures that staff use effective project management techniques and tools.
  • Sound business partnering attitude, work closely and effectively with business leaders on accounting policies, technical accounting topics, etc. 
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of individuals, both inside and outside the company, in a professional manner demonstrating effective verbal/written communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and details effectively with the ability to manage non-negotiable timelines.
  • Strong work ethic, organizational and problem solving skills.


Other Qualifications:                                       

  • Proficient knowledge of US-GAAP.
  •  Broad, general understanding of all aspects of finance and accounting, including audit, Cost Accounting/Inventory, Financial Planning.
  • Ability to produce sound financial plans and communicate those objectives throughout the organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as some travel (domestic and international) might be required.
