Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

We have an immediate opening for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to work in our Engineering department designing state of the art Atomic Force Microscopes. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 5+ years experience with mechanical design, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.  Experience with mechanical design and 3D CAD are required. Experience with motion control, optics, and electromechanical systems is highly desired. The preferred candidate will have experience in AFM, Semiconductor manufacturing, or similar high precision and high technology manufacturing or metrology equipment. Responsibilities will range from project management to task-oriented assignments.  Above all, we are looking for the right individual to work in a positive, flexible, and fast-paced technical work environment.  Previous applicants to Bruker for similar positions are encouraged to re-apply.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

This position will primarily work on the design of precision electromechanical assemblies/systems.

 

Typical tasks will include:

Engineering Design - 70%

  • Mechanical Design
  • System Integration
  • Design Evaluation and Technical Troubleshooting

Project management –10%

  • Management of outsourced components (sub-Project Management.)

Engineering Documentation – 20%

  • Component and Assembly Engineering Drawings
  • Bill of Material Creation
  • Draft user documentation (Facilities and installation requirements.)
  • Draft production documentation (test and calibration procedures.)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Ability and willingness to work in Class 1000 clean room with full gowning protocol.

Some travel to vendor sites may be required.(< 10% or < 1/mo.)

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Indicate any physical, sensory (i.e. visual acuity, hearing, etc.), or environmental requirements for the job.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Ideal candidate will have 5+ years mechanical engineering experience. Experience with mechanical design, and 3D CAD are required. Experience with motion control, optical systems integration, and electromechanical systems is highly desired.  Experience in AFM, Semiconductor manufacturing, or similar high technology manufacturing or metrology equipment industry is highly desired.

 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Candidates require a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.

The preferred candidate will have experience in AFM, Semiconductor or similar high technology manufacturing or metrology equipment.
