We curently have an opening for a Field Application Scientist located in Singapore.

 

The successful candidate will provide on-site applications support for customers across the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on Semiconductor Manufacturing Industry. This includes support for the complete integration of TOFWERK systems, training to ensure customers can successfully utilize the instruments for their desired applications, and technical consultation during pre-sales and post-sales engagements.

 

The successful candidate is ideally based in Singapore.

Responsibilities

As a Field Appliation Scientist, your tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Following the initial installation of a new system, provide on-site training and demonstrate the complete solution for the customer's application(s). Pro-actively follow up with customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Independently lead sales demonstrations in the Singapore lab or at customer sites (fabs) across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Serve as the technical expert in pre-sales conversations, assessing customer needs and proposing product-based solutions.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customer application support, including method development and data QA/QC.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between applications and service teams: provide expert consultation to the service team, responding to customer technical issues.
  • Lead instrument installations and customer trainings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and software tools. Communicate regularly with the factory and regional applications team to obtain timely information on new products, software and applications.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of TOFWERK Singapore demo laboratories.
  • Represent TOFWERK through conference presentations, scientific meetings, research reports, application notes, peer-reviewed publications, and marketing materials.
  • Develop methods and analyses to support growth in key markets across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Utilize phone and video conferencing to provide remote technical assistance for questions relating to acquisition or usability and to provide support regarding specific methods and workflows.
  • Manage high-priority tasks and customer interactions with self-initiative.

Qualifications

To be successful for this position, you should possess:

Education and/or Experience

  • Masters or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience with applied mass spectrometry
  • Strong technical instrumentation skills, including both hardware and software
  • Ability to work independently in the laboratory, including: experiment design, sample preparation, operation of scientific equipment, troubleshooting, and data interpretation

Desirable Experience and Expertise

  • Technical sales or customer support experience
  • Use of any of the following: chemical ionization MS, RGAs, real-time aerosol or trace gas analyzers, Vocus
  • Semiconductor manufacturing processes or cleanroom environments
  • Contamination control monitoring and aerosol measurements

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Confident and effective communicator
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Fluency in English (additional languages such as Mandarin, Malay, or Japanese are a plus, for effective communication with stakeholders in the region)
  • A practical problem-solver who makes things work
  • Ability to interact with customers and in-house staff with varying levels of knowledge and technical expertise
  • Ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing commercial environment
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to work with others toward a shared goal
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% per year for customer site visits, installations, and scientific conferences across the Asia-Pacific region
