We are looking for a Solution Portfolio Manager BPA BBIO GROUP (m/f/d) based in China.

Responsibilities

The Solution Portfolio Manager is responsible for the 3-horizon portfolio strategy of the assigned market segment. This includes business performance and regular health check reviews of all products in the current state of the portfolio as well as market-driven expansions thereof. The latter covers all stages, ranging from defining the use cases and market requirements, up to managing the solution product life cycle in the assigned market segment. The Solution Portfolio Manager assumes accountability for the profitability and business success of the portfolio as well as for establishing a recurrent business model.

 

  • Responsible for 3 Horizon Portfolio Strategy and Lifecycle Management of the assigned market segment: Develop and maintain a comprehensive portfolio roadmap aligned with company strategy and market trends. Continuously monitor solution performance and profitability throughout the lifecycle, from concept to end-of-life. Identify opportunities for portfolio expansion, consolidation, or optimization based on data-driven insights.                   
  • Responsible for Business Performance of the assigned portfolios: Define KPIs and track portfolio performance, including revenue, margin, and market share. Develop business cases for new investments and ensure resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities. Support pricing strategy, product bundling, and value-based selling initiatives. 
  • Responsible for Solution Integration and Innovation: Drive the development of integrated solutions combining hardware, software, and services. Promote cross-portfolio synergies and interoperability to deliver comprehensive customer solutions. Foster innovation through collaboration with internal teams, key customers, and strategic partners.
  • Responsible for Market and Customer Intelligence: Conduct competitive and market analyses to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and technology shifts including an attractive and competitive total cost of ownership compared to competitive analytical methods and to competing companies. Translate these insights into actionable strategies and market requirements for product development, positioning, and messaging. Work closely with regional teams to capture customer feedback and prioritize solution enhancements.
  • Takeover of Cross-Functional Leadership Setting: Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Service teams to ensure portfolio coherence and strategic alignment. Develop and drive go-to-market (GTM) initiatives by providing clear value propositions, persona definitions, competitive solution positioning, training and sales materials. Act as the portfolio’s business owner—balancing technical innovation with commercial viability.

 

Qualifications

Education & Background

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Business, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related field (ideally with exposure to analytical instrumentation, life sciences, or industrial technologies)
  • MBA or equivalent business qualification is a strong advantage
  • Optional: Experienced user of NMR and/or EPR

Professional Experience

  • 8–12+ years of experience in:
    • Portfolio management, product management, or solution management
    • Preferably in analytical instrumentation, life sciences, cleantech, or industrial markets
  • Proven track record of:
    • Managing complex, multi-component solution portfolios (hardware + software + services)
    • Driving portfolio profitability and growth
    • Delivering end-to-end lifecycle management (concept → launch → optimisation → phase-out)
  • Experience in cross-regional or global roles with exposure to different market dynamics
