Bruker’s Semiconductor (BSEMI) Division is the leader in advanced X-ray and AFM metrology for the silicon and compound semiconductor industries. The BSEMI division offers the most comprehensive portfolio of tools, based on AFM and X-ray technologies including XRR (X-ray reflectometry), XRF (X-ray fluorescence), XRD (X-ray diffraction), XRDI (X-ray diffraction imaging).  We are seeking an Applications Scientist to support our X-ray activities; in particular, XCD (X-ray Critical Dimension analysis).

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level technical support to worldwide Field Service Engineer teams, both remotely and on-site.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues using strong analytical and problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Manage customer escalations, delivering clear solutions and action plans while coordinating resources across the organization.
  • Install systems at customer sites, perform standard installation tests, meet installation schedules, and ensure full compliance with performance specifications.
  • Deliver technical training and develop high‑quality training documentation.
  • Execute complex system repairs with high professionalism, quality, and timeliness.
  • Initiate and support processes aimed at improving customer experience and overall system performance.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Support core technology, engineering, and production teams in qualifying new technologies, algorithms, methodologies, software, and hardware features.
  • Provide structured feedback on customer requirements to guide hardware and software development.
  • Ensure all products meet specifications, including pre‑shipment inspection and post‑installation validation.
  • Travel globally up to 50% of the time to support on‑site work, installations, escalations, and training activities.
  • Demonstrate high levels of professionalism in all customer interactions, documentation, communication, and technical work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Physics, or another scientific discipline; or equivalent experience working with scientific or semiconductor equipment.
  • Leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong theoretical understanding of physics and electronics to support advanced troubleshooting of complex systems.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and collaborate on multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to prepare and deliver high‑quality presentations (MS Office proficiency required).
  • Strong customer‑facing skills, including the ability to train, present, and manage escalations.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and operate as a strong team player.
  • Solid computer/networking skills, with the ability to analyse data and prepare structured summaries.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor instrumentation or scientific tools is beneficial.
  • Willingness and availability to travel up to 50% internationally.
