Responsibilities

As a Technical Sales Specialist, your essential functions and summary of responsibilities are:

  • 30% Prospecting customers
  • 30% Applications of product demonstrations according to budget
  • 20% Seminar and workshop for market awareness
  • 20% Delivery of training, and BU support for RMA

Summary of responsibilities

  • Needs Analysis: Identify customer's technical requirements and challenges.
  • Product Expertise: Develop extensive knowledge of products/services and technical terminology.
  • Solution Selling: Recommend and demonstrate the most suitable technical solutions.
  • Communication: Simplify complex technical information for non-technical clients.
  • Sales Execution: Generate leads, pitch, negotiate, close deals, and meet sales targets.
  • Relationship Management: Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and provide post-sale support.
  • Reporting & Strategy: Prepare sales reports, proposals, and stay informed on market trends.
  • Demonstrations: Conduct engaging product/service demonstrations and presentations.
  • Have hands-on experience and knowledge on at least multiphoton microscopy and preference for two of the four techniques: multiphoton microscopy, super resolution, fluorescent confocal microscopy, Light-sheet.
  • Working closely with local channel partners for 2nd tier and 3rd tier universities opps.
  • Execute sample measurement to technically advance to a sales opportunity.
  • Providing pre/post sales technical support including service of the systems.

Qualifications

To be successful for this position, you should possess:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Had experience with Salesforce CRM for documenting sales process.
  • Strong technical acumen (specific to the industry).
  • Proven proficiency in laser microscopy, particularly super-resolution, multi-photon, and/or Light sheet.
  • Problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Customer-focused approach.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum master’s degree in science or engineering
  • Experience and a proven track record of performance in sales of scientific instrumentation is essential
  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales management, preferably including channel partner management.
  • Experience with Miller Heiman, Spin Selling Sales and other commonly adopted sales techniques.
  • Experience with life-science imaging instrumentation is preferred.

Environmental Requisitions:

  • 50% travel domestically in Japan.
  • Able to work independently in varies environment.
