Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology solutions include atomic force microscopy instrumentation (AFM) and non-contact nanometer resolution solution topography through white light interferometry and stylus profilometry. In addition, the division manufacturers and markets automated X-ray metrology, automated AFM defect-detection and photomask repair and cleaning equipment for semiconductor process control.

 We are looking for a talented  Senior Application Scientist to join, introduce and support AFM  & NI metrology technology for the semiconductor industry. 

As a Senior Application Scientist, reporting to Regional Application Manager, your summary of responsibilities are:

• Primary customer applications expert for AFM and NI
• Provides technical expertise through customer consultation, product demonstrations, installation, and maintenance of company products. 
• Assists customers with assessing potential applications to meet process metrology needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions. 
• May build an application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client. 
• May provide software development and consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation. 
• Support of the core AFM & Nanomechanical Technology engineering and production teams in qualification of new technologies, algorithms, methodologies, software, and hardware features.
• Ensures that the product application/solution is functioning according to specifications including source inspection of the tools prior to shipment and following installation. 
• May provide follow-up support to company sales staff and customer personnel by disseminating technical information on specific applications. 
• Will work with our customers from prior to the sale, through delivery and installation.  
• Work in close cooperation with our factory engineers and scientists.

To be successful in this position, you will possess:

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Degree in material science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or physics (B.Sc. minimum, M.Sc. or PhD is preferred).
2. Prior experience in a semiconductor fab, preferably with semiconductor metrology systems. 
3. Familiarity with metrology and characterization techniques (preferably hands-on work and results analysis).  Experience in AFM and nanomechanical film analysis of the different metrology techniques preferred.  
4. Experience as application engineer on AFM and Nanomechanical film technology is a plus.
5. Good knowledge of statistics and data analysis. 
6. Fluent in English and experience in technical writing
7. Demonstrated oral & written communications and interpersonal relationship skills, particularly intercultural skills; strong customer orientation.
8. Ability to work and be creative under pressure and with tight deadlines.
9. Self-organized and self-disciplined. Ability to work alone and within a team environment to solve problems. Experience working in the semiconductor industry and familiarity with problem analysis and troubleshooting techniques.

Position is located at Korea/Hwasung.

• Able to travel internationally on short notice. Expect 50% - 80% travel. Main work site is customer’s designated area like Icheon & Chungju (SKHynix), Hwasung and Pyeongtaek (Samsung)
