Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology solutions include atomic force microscopy instrumentation (AFM) and non-contact nanometer resolution solution topography through white light interferometry and stylus profilometry. In addition, the division manufacturers and markets automated X-ray metrology, automated AFM defect-detection and photomask repair and cleaning equipment for semiconductor process control.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Japan region is an important market for instruments used in material science, green energy, life sciences, nanotechnology, and semiconductor. To enhance the pre-sales application support and customer satisfaction, we are requisitioning a Sales-Application Manager based in Tokyo, Japan. The Application Manager will cover all Bruker Nano Surface Metrology products, especially AFMi.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Sales-Application Manager works closely with Sales and Marketing team to accelerate sales processes in Japan, providing following supports:

  • Help sales team understand the requirements of customers’ applications by customer visits, discussions etc. In addition, drive customer to same goal as the joint venture concept.
  • Use sample measurements, lab demonstrations & live presentations, present the strengths of our products and technologies to customers, helping customers understand the benefits of the solution we provide.
  • Frequently communication with BU team and establish the best way for each application.
  • Organize advanced training courses for customers.
  • Application support for post-sales issues
  • Manage a team of Sales Applications Scientists to achieve and exceed quarterly and annual sales goals across multiple product lines.
  • Performance management including coaching and mentoring of team members and setting a high bar to achieve maximum personal potential by measuring against KPI.
  • Encourage best practice in the team via understanding and adoption of optimized demo & sample measurement processes.
  • Work together with Marcom on marketing events, including webinars, workshops, user meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and trade shows.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Other lab/office duties when required, such as lab maintenance.

 

Qualifications

To be successful for this position, you will possess the following requirements:

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Usual office working conditions: using a computer and performing instruments.
  • Travel to visit customers and prospects (travel out in Japan can be up to 20%)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Positive “can do” attitude, a highly motivated self-starter.
  • Resourceful, proactive, analytical, meticulous.
  • Goal oriented with good track record in leading teams to achieving sales targets.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese.
  • Microsoft power point, excel, word experience.
  • MatLab, Igor, Origin, Python software experience is preferable skill.  
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally on short notice.

 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Master or Ph.D in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrochemistry and Semiconductor materials.
  • 10 years (PhD)  or 15 years (Master) prior work and/or study experience in relevant fields.     
  • Technical background in AFM and/or other surface characterization techniques is preferred.
