Bruker Nano Surfaces & Metrology “BNSM” division is the leader in X-ray metrology / inspection and other tools for the silicon and compound semiconductor industries. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Strategic Buyer & Subcontracting Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is instrumental in driving cost savings, optimizing procurement processes, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality goods and services. A critical component of this role involves managing the full lifecycle of complex technical subcontracting relationships and driving internal procurement projects to align with capital expenditure (CapEx) and New Product Introduction (NPI) schedules. The Manager will work closely with Engineering, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams to ensure all purchasing and outsourced activities align with the company’s overall strategic goals and technical requirements. The ideal candidate possesses a strong strategic mindset, exceptional negotiation skills, and proven success in managing large-scale, technical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies and Subcontracting Sourcing Plans aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end management of subcontracting activities, from defining the Statement of Work (SOW) through vendor selection, execution, and contract closure.
  • Function as the Procurement Project Manager (PM) for the subcontractor’s activities, managing the procurement work stream, ensuring alignment with overall project schedules, and resolving delivery bottlenecks.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and potential suppliers for both direct materials and complex outsourced services.
  • Lead complex sourcing and negotiation processes, resulting in optimal contract terms and conditions for both goods and subcontracted service agreements.
  • Negotiating Framework Agreement terms and conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure collaborative partnerships and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement supplier and subcontractor performance management systems to measure and enhance performance, focusing on quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks within the direct material and subcontracting pools through proactive risk management strategies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in procurement, project management, and outsourcing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to meet their material and service needs.
  • Establishing purchase orders and tracking until delivery.
  • Handling defective products (MRB).

Qualifications

  • Practical Engineer / Industrial and Management Engineer / Relevant bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic procurement and supplier management.
  • Proven track record of achieving cost savings and improving procurement efficiency.
  • Highly experienced in negotiating Framework agreement terms and conditions.
  • Deep understanding of Outsourcing and Project Management (PM) processes.
  • Exceptional Project Management skills with a proven ability to lead complex cross-functional procurement projects from initiation to completion, including schedule, budget, and risk oversight.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems (Excel + experience with SAP – an advantage).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Service awareness and high learning ability.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Personal skills: Team player, Assertive, out of the box thinking, makes things happen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the specific industry (Semiconductors).
  • Significant experience in managing strategic subcontractors' relationships and performance for technical or manufacturing services.
