We are looking for a R&D Scientist (m/f/d) to complete our team in Bremen or Athen.

Responsibilities

The R&D Scientist will be responsible for research and development in the field of fast ion detection and signal digitalization as used in time-of-flight mass spectrometers

 

Main tasks:

  • Develop and optimize the ion detection and signal processing for time-of-flight mass spectrometers
  • Participation in research and development of the Bruker time-of-flight instrument R&D      

Tasks:

  • Innovate
    • Identify and explore new ion detection hardware and digital processing technologies
    • Drive innovation both internally and with key suppliers
    • Stay part of the research community by networking and dedicated business trips
    • Develop expertise and fundamental understanding through building models, using ion optical and electronic simulations matching experimental data
    • Strengthen our IP by identifying ideas and submitting them for patent application
  • Productize
    • Design, perform and supervise experiments to qualify solutions and evaluate results
    • Execute our R&D process to transfer innovation into revenue with mature products
    • Back up design transfer to production and provide 3rd level support internally and to customers

Qualifications

  • Diploma or PhD in Physics or Electronics, or corresponding qualification
  • Background and hands-on experience in mass spectrometry instrumentation, ideally time-of-flight
  • Background and hands-on in electronics, ideally with RF, transmission lines, waveguides
  • Programming experience using Python, LabVIEW or C#
  • Ion and electronic simulations using COMSOL, SPICE or SIMION are a plus
  • Analytic, logical and innovative thinking
  • Good communication skills, team-mindedness
  • Self-organized, accurate and result oriented working style
  • Solid scientific English language skills; fluent in spoken and written English
  • Fluid German language skills would be an advantage
