Responsibilities

Bruker's global leadership in MALDI TOF mass spectrometer leverages on highly specialized solid state lasers. To further expand our competitive edge, our lasers are highly custom designed and manufactured in-house. We are looking for an individual with deep domain knowledge in the area of Laser optics to lead a cross functional team along the value chain from design to service. The candidate will be hands on, overseeing design, tooling, manufacturing, quality control, supplier and final test, installation and service. Troubleshooting and continuous improvement are intrinsic components of the task. This role will be supported by a team of senior laser scientists, mechanical, electrical and production engineers.  

 

Your tasks will be:

 

  • Become our subject matter expert and team lead for all laser related questions;
  • Establish and maintain a coherent tool design to ensure high quality, seamless production and low service, including defining and enforcing all required QC procedures;
  • Drive and execute on continuous improvements in all laser optic related questions;
  • Manage our global suppliers to ensure highest and stable standards in material quality;
  • troubleshooting in daily operation and hands-on in production.

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD, in physics or related engineering education in the field of laser optics;
  • Proven background and hands on experience in the area of coherent optics and solid-state Lasers;
  • SHG, THG, temperature and angle tuning are no foreign terms for you;
  • Knowledge in standard optic simulation tools like Zemax;
  • mCAD and basic electronics background are a plus;
  • A few years experience in an industrial context, ideally in the analytical industry are a plus;
  • First experience in managing a hererogenious team is of advantage;
  • Basic comunication skills in German, along with willingness to improve would help interacting across functions;
  • Occasional international travel is required;
  • Very good communication and teamwork skills along with a highly self-driven attitude.
